Types of leasing

Operating lease

Operating lease is suitable for you if you do not want to become the owner of the car at the end of the leasing period. In case of operating lease, the lessor buys the car of your choice and gives it to you to use for the lease period. At the end of the leasing period, the user can:

  1. Buy the vehicle;
  2. Exchange for a new vehicle;
  3. Sell the vehicle to a third party.

If you want to return the car to the lessor, it must meet the requirements established by the buyer, one of which may be a mileage limit.

Capital lease

A capital lease is suitable for you if you want to become the owner of the car at the end of the lease period. It is also possible to formalize a capital lease with a residual value, i.e. the last installment is significantly higher. This option should be used if you want a lower monthly payment.

Installment payment

By nature, the installment payment is most suitable for a capital lease, because at the end of the installment payment period, the buyer becomes the owner of the car. Car installment payments can generally be applied for a smaller amount and for older cars. In the case of an installment payment, as a rule, the financing costs are also higher than in the case of a lease. Also, the installment payment for the car is primarily intended for a private customer who purchases a vehicle from another private person or a company that is not liable for VAT.

Value added tax

The selection of the type of contract should also be based on VAT. If the price of the car includes VAT, then you have to choose between a capital lease or operating lease. If the price of the car is without VAT, you can only choose installment payment. In the case of a private person, it generally does not matter which type of contract is concluded, because the conditions are very similar. However, companies must take into account that in the case of a capital lease, VAT must be paid on the entire price of the car.
